In America, Elizabeth Chadwick is not as well known as historical writers of similar periods in history like Philippa Gregory or Alison Weir. Ah, but what directed me to this novel? Aliens…I mean ancestors.
After my thesis, I directed a lot, make that a double a lot, of my new found free time to look up dead ancestors. For a least a month, my weekends were booked for ancestor finding. My searching lead me in many interesting directions. One of those directions was towards William Marshal, the son of John Marshal and Sybilla of Salisbury, knight, tournament champion, and badass of the week. If it wasn’t for my ancestral findings, I would not have scouted around for books about them, and would not have found Elizabeth Chadwick’s works. Sometimes with a little digging new books could be found, especially with a little help from the ancestors.
